Question on changing leaf springs on 5'er

Hi,

I will be changing out the flat leaf springs on my 2012 5th wheel on all 4 wheels. Was wondering if there is any advantage to doing it by axle (i.e. both wheels on one axle, then both on other) vs. just doing one side at a time (both wheels on one side, then the other). 2nd way would reduce some of the setup time I guess.

Sagging leaf springs do not change the so called alignment on a trailer..... Unless one is sagging more than the others.

Is something broken, or preventative maintenance? My leafs are still good after 18 years - or at least they look and work fine! Youtube got anything?

No worries on the shackles, I replaced them with heavy duty Moryde ones with the wet bolts 2 seasons ago. I added an extra leaf to the springs when ordering and will replace all the hardware on the springs.

Nice to be able to lift up the whole thing one time but if that is not practical one side at a time. Leave it on the truck if doing one side at a time.

As suggested, while up there might as well replace & upgrade shackles etc. as well. Builders put on minimum spec hardware. I upped my spring pack from 6 to 7 leaf. No worries about breakage now.

I put my entire trailer up on jack stands and did one side at a time. Seemed easier since I was replacing the equalizers etc that connect to both axles. A day to lift, day for each side then down made for three weekends.

Mine was out of alignment due to sagging springs so once replaced all was good.

Make sure to have a wheel alignment done after the springs have been renewed. DAMHIK

Shackles were all done 2 seasons ago (changed to the lubed kind)

I was under the impression I could lower 1 side of the axle at a time instead of both sides?

Both on one axle. You will need to lower and raise it to change out the spring, then align it to the centering bolt.
While you are at it its a good time to replace shackles, bolts amd bushings.
