Sacramento Area or north

Hello, we leave on 6/12 for our three weeks in Oregon (which we've done did about 6 years). This year our first reservation is at Valley of the Rogud and we were going to drive from our home (in Carmel) there in one day it we found out we can leave early afternoon the day before. Can anyone recommend a place around the Sacramsnf area (or north 5) area? We have a hybrid and it would just be a overnight, don't really care about anything other then sleeping safely with hookups.

Just wanted to come back and tell you all what we decided on. I booked "Lake Solano County Park". I remembered that a few years ago we did this route, where you go up to 80 then up the 505 to 5. It's more on the way, and it's shady on a river/reservoir and has hookups....

Thanks for all the advise though!!!!

Good choice.

We like Kit Fox - s. of Sac. (Patterson) or Heritage n. of Sac. (Corning)

Five Flags is OK if you like parking lots.

Happy times - east side of I-5 (n) is OK for o'nite. Other side (next exit) is garbage.\
Good luck

That's a good choice. It's a bit of a drive off of 505, but not bad at all.

Check your map before you take the advice of some of these as they are way out of your way. If you're going from Carmel up I-5 you will not pass through Sacramento unless you go out of your way. You'll take 505 up to I-5. This takes you right by the RV park at Midway Road in Vacaville as well as the one in Dunnigan. Both decent places for a quick overnight stay.
From Carmel you'd go through the bay areas vs 152 to 5?

The OP didn't ask for Directions, they asked for places to stay North of Sac on I-5. instead you give driving directions! There are plenty of places to stay in the Sac area on I5,SR99 and SR70 or SR65. As you get North of Sacramento on I5 it splits 99-70 and 5, Straight or bear left. Or right on 80 to 65 and Placer county fair grounds,, With Hook ups. Vacaville is way South of Sacramento,,NOT what they are looking for!

I did not give driving directions. The OP obviously knows how to get there. Simply pointing out that many of the suggestions provided here for a quick overnight stay are waaaaay out of the way. Like Auburn???

It adds 40 miles to the trip, but that may be a viable route if you have to pass through the bay area during rush hour. Otherwise from Carmel you get on 101 to 680 to 80 to 505 to 5.

i'm real surprised how far off the map many suggestions are.

the OP wants a overnight stay in Sacto or on I5.

yet some people are suggesting Placer County or Roseville or Auburn or Yuba City/Marysville area. every one of those places are out of the way for the OP.

and Vacaville is west of Sacto, not south. but seeing that the OP is coming from Carmel, Vacaville is too close and not worth stopping so soon after leaving.

we stayed at Rolling Hills Casino on our way to Grants Pass. very nice and quiet RV park.

Try Placer County Fair grounds. They have sites available. Also being that your headed North, Sycamore Ranch off Hwy 20 out of Marysville has a really nice quiet campground. Check out Lake Minden a thousand trails campground just out of Sacramento.

Free RV parking at Thunder Valley Casino Parking lot #2.

Nice level sites, full hookups, shuttle to the casino. Or you can stay in the huge parking lot for free.
