I'll just add something to keep you all confused. If you haven't registered your bikes quad or UTV for a Long... while just buy a non-resident pass. They only look at the sticker they don't ask for current registration.

Oh, and as for your plated UT x3, California doesn't reciprocate out of state plated SxS, so you might not qualify based on this technicality.
Not true! It's no different then an out of state vehicle traveling state to state on vacation. I'm plated in AZ. I've been to Cal-City a dozen times other places with no issues!!
That's great. I've read a lot of posts on other forums about people getting hassled with out of state plated SxS's. I'm glad you haven't been hassled in Cal City.

Going with friends for the first time over Thanksgiving.
We have an X3 with Utah license plates. Do we need the Cal City OHV permit?
Any good tips on trails to ride? We can do 100 miles a day.

We go out there all the time and do have a permit for our RZR. Being street legal you should NOT need the permit. Worst case they stop you and sell you one on the spot $15. We have never been stopped.
You'll want to check out Randsburg (lunch) and also the Husky monument! Burro Schmidt tunnel, and lots of other things to see out there.
